March 2026
Homepage — TimeVault featured section
Added a dedicated section on the homepage explaining how TimeVault works, with a live capsule preview. TimeVault has been the most-asked-about tool so it deserved more than a card.
Site copy — more honest, less generic
Rewrote the about page and tool descriptions. The old copy was fine but it read like a template. Updated to reflect why we actually built these things.
February 2026
Blog — 15 new developer guides
Added articles covering HTTP status codes, CORS, OAuth, Docker, caching strategies, REST vs GraphQL, base64 encoding, regex, SQL vs NoSQL, CDNs, environment variables, API rate limiting, HTTPS, web performance, and color formats. Broad but each one is something we've had to look up or explain more than once.
JWT Decoder — non-standard padding handling
Tokens with non-standard base64url padding (missing or extra =) were failing silently instead of either decoding correctly or showing a useful error. Fixed the padding normalization step.
Cloud Cost Calculator — monthly breakdown view
Added a per-month cost breakdown toggle. The default annual total was useful but when estimating burn rate month-by-month the math was left to you. Not anymore.
January 2026
TimeVault — time-locked messages
New tool: write a message that unlocks on a specific future date. AES-256 encrypted in the browser before upload. The unlock timestamp is part of the key derivation, so decryption before the date is not just against the rules — it's not possible with the stored ciphertext.
Blog — initial 5 articles
Published the first batch: JSON explainer, JWT deep-dive, Unix timestamps, timezone handling, and cloud cost optimization. All written to be the thing we wished existed when we were learning this stuff.
December 2025
JSON Formatter — precise error locations
Error messages now show exact line and column numbers for parse failures. "Unexpected token" somewhere in a 500-line blob is not helpful. Line 247, column 3 is.
JSON Formatter — tree view mode
Added collapsible tree view for navigating nested JSON structures. Useful when you receive a deeply nested API response and need to find a specific field without manually scanning indented text.
Unix Timestamp — millisecond precision
Added explicit millisecond mode. JavaScript Date.now() returns ms, most Unix docs assume seconds — the difference is a factor of 1000 and causes a class of bugs where your "timestamp" lands in 1970. Now the tool detects which you're likely using and says so.
November 2025
Timezone Visualizer — US/Eastern DST transition
The visualizer was miscalculating times during the first week of November for US/Eastern due to DST handling in the underlying date library. Fixed by switching to Intl.DateTimeFormat for DST-aware offset calculation.
All tools — mobile layout improvements
Inputs were awkwardly sized on small screens, especially the JSON formatter text area. Reworked the layout so tools are actually usable on a phone — not just technically viewable.
October 2025
Site launched with 5 tools
Initial launch: JSON Formatter, JWT Decoder, Unix Timestamp Converter, Timezone Visualizer, and Cloud Cost Calculator. All client-side, no accounts, no tracking. This is the point where we stopped just using them internally and made them public.

Known issues (not fixed yet)

  • TimeVault share links get long on some mobile browsers when the message is large — working on a shorter URL scheme
  • Cloud Cost Calculator doesn't account for reserved instance pricing or savings plans — estimates are on-demand rates only
  • Timezone Visualizer doesn't handle all historical timezone offset changes correctly for dates before 2000
  • JSON Formatter tree view collapses all nodes on paste; should remember which nodes were open
